First Day Trip of the Year to Visit with Sunny and Newt

I love a road trip so today I packed up with plenty of water (heatwave in March!) and headed out to check in on Sunny and her beautiful buddy Newt from Wild Heart Restart. It’s so wonderful to see these two born in the wild horses living a good life together in a much more natural setting. Away from the domestic life of horses which they both found so challenging, they have tons of green grass, great shade trees, lots of space to wander and explore. This little herd of two are thriving, and then some! Their foster mom is amazing and checks in with them every morning before the horses slowly head back to the shade trees and get on with their day. They are definitely living the good life and we can’t thank their foster mom enough for opening her heart and home to Sunny and Newt. They are truly happy horses!

The day went by very quickly and before I knew it, it was time to head home. It was gratifying to see Sunny and Newt, and incredibly sweet when they calmly decided that their visit with humans was over and they peacefully made their way back to the shade trees and the life they have together. A great day!

If you’re not familiar with Wild Heart Restart, take a moment to check them out - they do great work with the wild horses!
