grace, our sweet senior sanctuary mare

Grace came to Blue Horse Rescue in October 2019. Grace had been found wandering alone near Black Butte Lake. Luckily a kind women found her and posted her on Facebook to see if anyone recognized her. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward with any info on this lone mare. It was soon after that Grace found herself at the local animal control with a five day hold until she would be euthanized. It was critical that we find a safe spot for this senior mare to land. Happily one of our amazing BHR foster moms stepped up and Grace was safe again.

Grace was then adopted and life was very good. But life threw her a curve and once again Grace was back with Blue Horse Rescue.

After much consideration, it was decided that Grace would be a permanent sanctuary horse with Blue Horse Rescue and will live her days out in pasture sharing pasture space with other senior mares. Grace has some hind end issues but has been doing well with her herd of mares. We are very grateful to Grace’s amazing foster ‘mom’ who does a great job of caring for her.
